For Escrow Officer Josh Layton, this list explains why he enjoys closing real estate transactions for Independence Title Company. According to Josh, "There is never a dull moment as a closer—or at least there shouldn’t be!” Josh’s calm demeanor and proactive approach to business set him apart from many in the industry. He’s a quick learner who delights in navigating his way through difficult situations, striving to insure that all parties feel their interests are effectively mediated.
In the title business for a total of eight years, Josh has worked as an abstractor/examiner, a marketing rep, an escrow assistant, and as an escrow officer. This range of activity makes him truly an expert in all aspects of the industry. He has fully embraced the ITC culture of excellence and appreciates the support of a local plant, local abstractors/examiners, 12 national underwriters, and more than 20 closing offices spanning the Austin/San Antonio area.
Born in Asheville, North Carolina, Josh moved to San Antonio and graduated from Castle Hills First Baptist High School. He then received a degree from San Diego Christian College, and he is currently working on a law degree from St. Mary’s University. He is happily married to Dominique Layton, also a law student. Josh’s current hobbies include little other than reading and briefing legal cases; however, he enjoyed playing high school and college basketball and played for a brief time in the European professional league.
