Lori Allmer – Escrow Officer

Lori Allmer in Closing roomLori Allmer grew up in the Houston area. When she graduated from Cy-Fair High School, she chose to head to UT Austin for college. She, “like everyone else who comes to school here,” fell in love with Austin while earning her Sociology Degree with a minor in Business. Because she had worked as a bank teller in college, she continued in the banking industry, “I saw an ad in the paper, back when there were ads in the paper, for an escrow assistant,” she says. She had no idea what an escrow assistant was, or what a title company did. “I called my sister who’d just closed on a home purchase. She said that a title company is where you go to buy a house,” she laughs. “That’s all I knew when I went to interview.” She started as an assistant and in four years, was an Escrow Officer. “You either love it or you really don’t, and for me, escrow was the perfect fit,” she says. She has now been closing for 20 years.

“There are so many things I love about my job,” she says. “It’s fast paced, and every day is different. I love the people, the connection, and the privilege of being part of their big day. Real estate is a huge investment for most people; it’s personal for them, and can be hard to navigate. I love walking them through it.” She says you never know who you will meet and has had fun doing closings for a few actors and some local business celebrities throughout the years.

“I love working at Independence Title,” she says. “The support is amazing. Management supports us professionally and personally. I just hit my 5-year anniversary here, and my work/life balance has never been better.” She says Independence Title’s resources make her job easier. “We get things from our title plant out quickly and efficiently. It’s better for us and great for our clients.” When her daughter came to visit her new office at the Balcones location for the first time it really hit home for her. “My daughter walked into my new office and said, ‘It’s like sunshine in here!’ She was absolutely right!”

Lori has worked with her assistant, Heidi, for over 6 years. “Heidi was a closer in Florida before she moved to Texas. She decided she preferred the supportingLori Allmer holding Welcome Home sign role, and she’s amazing,” Lori says. “Our clients know that Heidi’s attention to detail is immaculate. We work so well together; we know what to expect from each other.”

When Lori’s not working, she enjoys time with her family, especially watching the kids play sports. “We also love traveling and spending time at the lake with friends,” she says. “We’re ready to get back to that life!”
